Session 52¶

Our negotiations with Talah Mesho’a were finalized, even though the group was not entirely of one mind concerning whether it worth it to double-cross her, nor what exactly to do with the via astra component when we found it. But setting such worries to the side for now, we made ready to leave Haven.

Before our departure, Xor approached Gwen and settled beside her, his tank-bound body emitting a stream of bubbles like a long, contemplative sigh. The nutrient bath in his jar began to churn as he established a psychic connection, and we watched as Gwen’s eyes clouded over with the communion. Xor could not discern any immmediate influence on Gwen’s thoughts, though he did acknowledge a kind of “presence” of a sort he could not fully determine. We tried to all shrug it off, but it does not bode well for the future.

Detour Among the Asteroids¶

Our journey to Andromea took us through a dense field of asteroids where, during a quiet moment aboard ship, Gwenzahlya performed an impromptu séance. The spirits, it seemed, had urgent business with us – they spoke of restless souls trapped in an abandoned mining outpost nearby. Though it delayed our primary mission, we felt compelled to investigate.

The mining facility hung silently in the void, a hollow shell of metal and rock that had once buzzed with industry. As we docked and made our way inside, the cause of its abandonment became horrifyingly clear. The facility had been overrun by Asteroid Spiders – monstrous, eight-legged horrors with carapaces like burnished metal that reflected what light there was in sickening patterns. Their bulbous abdomens pulsed with an eerie green light, leaving faint trails of luminescence as they skittered across walls and ceilings with unnatural speed. We are in for quite a fight!
