At The End Of Our Rope¶

The cavern echoed with the sounds of our struggle against the ropers, their stone-like bodies glistening in the dim light. Their tendrils lashed out, attempting to drag us into their gaping and saliva drenched maws. Gwen fought valiantly, casting mindspike and fireball spells that seared the creatures’ rocky exteriors. Stigs, in the clutches of a roper and badly mauled, used his vampiric bite to regain some vitality.

Ryalith’s heroic leap to grapple the roper ensnaring Stigs was nothing short of inspiring. She pummeled it until its grip loosened, causing Stigs to plummet. Fortunately, Gloopwing acted quickly, creating a plasmoid landing pad to break his fall. Gwen’s magical prowess and some well-timed help from Stigs in the form of a vortex spell, allowed her to take the other roper down. The fight was fierce, with each of us pushed near our limits.

After the battle, we took a short rest to tend to our wounds and gather ourselves. We discovered a cache of treasure at the bottom of a water-filled pool in the cavern, including jewels and valuable spell scrolls. Gloopwing and Gwen’s search of the ropers’ remains yielded an amulet of health and more jewels, suggesting these creatures had preyed on many unfortunate travelers.

With the immediate threat neutralized, we continued our journey and soon encountered a small merchant caravan led by Quexl, a Sil trader. Quexl provided us with supplies and crucial information. We learned that Zerrenia and her companions were headed towards the “scar of the desert,” or Krazak Thar, in search of the Hodos cultists. Quexl warned us of the dangers ahead but provided rough directions via the Zath Khaar, an underground desert highway.

We decided to take a long rest, recuperating from the intense combat and preparing for the challenges that lay ahead. Our journey through the underdesert continues, each step bringing us closer to unraveling the mysteries of the cult and their ominous plans.
