We spent a surprising amount of time fighting our way out of the sandy mess we had gotten ourselves into, but eventually we prevailed. The sand oozes had hidden several gems, so at least our efforts weren’t entirely in vain.

The Mesho’an party simply studied our every move as we engaged in combat. Perhaps they were sizing us up for weakness?

We explored the rest of the level, finding little of interest. We then made our way to level three.

Here things began to get more interesting. Down the hallway we discovered a room with buttons at either end of the hall, each of which depicted a symbol. By aligning the symbols correctly we determined that we could rotate the room to different passages. We went to the northeast, through an archway made by two statues of warrior women, until we came to what could only be described as a sort of holy shrine to the woman (or goddess) depicted on the top of the pyramid – Maudra. Our entrance to the room was announced by a soft ringing sound.

We searched and discovered a hidden door to the south. Passing through we entered a large mostly empty room except for a large stone vault. Nasha cleverly disarmed a trap protecting it, and Gwen and Gloopwing pushed the stone cover off. Unfortunately this proved rather rash, as an eerie green light began to pulse from within the vault and a sort of jellied mist began to escape it.

Rising from within the vault was an enormous green jellied creature, with a blackened skull and gleaming eyes at its center. One could not help but think our journey might be at its end.
