Though the slime creature was terrifying, it proved a relatively easy opponent to dispatch, though not entirely without injury. But this creature was not the only danger we encountered.

Soon the warrior maidens themselves arrived – ten women arrayed in bronze tunics and green robes, each wearing an unsettling bronze mask fashioned in the likeness of a stern female face. Their leader, Pandora, distinguished by her elaborate headdress, greeted us with cautious hostility.

We had dishonored their temple, and for that would die. We made no negotiation and proceeded to melee fiercely with them. The battle was difficult, and two of our new friends were lost to the shadowy swords of the Maidens.

The Maidens themselves seemed both more and less than human. They seemed to be deeply withered husks, yet struck with the force of ten men. Upon “death” they seemed to simply discorporate. As our blows cut down the final warrior, she could be heard to howl with laughter and say “You are just as cursed as we – and so shall we see you again…”
